In October Captain Mike Gabelman along with a team that included doctors, dentists, and pilots flew to the remote Mexican village of San Quintin to provide medical, eye, and dentistry services. Nearly 300 migrant farm workers and children in the Baja villages of San Quintin and Camalu were served.

Mission Flight, which Mike launched in 2016, currently conducts six medical missions to Mexico each year. Their short-term goal is to increase these to 12 annually. Mission flight also provides patient transport flights within the United States and conducts the SOAR program for kids with special needs.

“I started Mission Flight as a means to invite others into this kind of mission aviation,” says Mike Gabelman. “Helping others is what it’s all about. Pure and Simple. We are a Christian organization, but we don’t push religion on anyone. We now have about 200 volunteers per year. It’s a very fun group to serve with.”

AOPA Magazine recently published an article on Mission Flight’s outreach to San Quintin and Camalu, which can be viewed HERE.
