The Super Light Learjet 45

The Lear 45 is often referred to as a “super” light jet. This is usually spoken by Lear 45 salesmen, but the truth is, the Lear 45 is a terrific private jet. A totally new aircraft design, the Lear 45 fills the niche between the smaller 30-series Lears and the mid-size Learjet, the Lear 60.

Features and Performance

Longer than many midsize private jets, the Lear 45 was designed to accommodate 8 passengers (with bags) in a double club seating arrangement. With a larger fuselage diameter than the smaller Learjets, the Lear 45 provides passengers cabin room normally found on mid-sized jets. Cabin amenities include a generous aft lavatory, a large forward refreshment center and coat closet. The wide, flat floor and 16 cabin windows create an exceptionally open feel. For those traveling with golf clubs or telemarketers, the Lear 45 has 50 cubic feet of external baggage storage.

The Lear 45 incorporates advanced technology throughout its design. For the trips that require a bit more cabin area, the Lear 45 is a practical choice. The Lear 45 is powered by Honeywell TFE731-20BR-1B turbofan engines that can take the aircraft 1800 miles and to altitudes up to 51,000 feet.

Development of the Lear 45 was undertaken by Bombardier in 1992. Certification was granted in 1997 and the first aircraft delivered a year later.
